The Day of The Dead
The Day
of the Dead is celebrated on November 1st in Mexico, Ecuador,
Guatemala and other parts of Central and South America. Mexico celebrates this tradition during the last days of October and the
first days of November. It is a happy tradition.
Families get together to pray to the souls of
dead relatives, asking them to return one night. People decorate their homes and gravesites with food, candles,
candy skulls to welcome the souls back to earth. They also use skeletons to
decorate the cities, and people wear costumes of skeletons and have a parade on
the streets. They cookBread of the dead in the shape of skulls and crossbones, and a toy is hidden inside. The person who bites the toy will have good luck.
